STAGE DESIGN • JUST A DANCE • KLUB K4

From 2017 to 2020, I had the pleasure of bringing retro vibes to life at the monthly nightclub event “Just A Dance” at Klub K4. For this project, I created new media installations and transformed the stage with an array of retro props collected over a lifetime.

A Trip Back in Time

The event was a celebration of the 80s, and my goal was to immerse attendees in the nostalgia of the era. I set up new media installations that complemented the event’s theme, creating a visual spectacle that transported guests back to the neon-lit streets of the 80s.

Retro Props Galore

The stage design was a labor of love, featuring a mix of iconic 80s elements. I used old 80s CRT TVs and computer screens to display retro visuals, while palm trees, retro phones, disks, cassettes, and VHS tapes added to the authentic 80s ambiance. Mannequins painted in silver and gold, along with synthesizers, completed the retro-futuristic look.

Creating an Immersive Experience

The goal of the project was to create an immersive experience that went beyond music and dancing. The stage design and new media installations served as a visual backdrop that enhanced the overall atmosphere of the event, making it a truly memorable experience for attendees.

Conclusion

My involvement in “Just A Dance” at Klub K4 was a rewarding experience that allowed me to combine my passion for retro aesthetics with my skills in new media art. The project stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of the 80s and its influence on contemporary culture.
