PARALLEL WORLDS II.
The “Parallel Worlds II.” photographic series is a continuation of the author’s exploration initiated with the “Parallel Worlds I.” project in 2017. This ongoing endeavour transcends temporal boundaries, evolving continuously as a timeless expression of hope and longing for a new, improved world. Through photo collages, the artist endeavours to manifest her aspirations for a future that diverges from the ominous trajectory of the present.
Through photo collages, the artist expresses her hope for a new, different, and better world. The artist is concerned about humanity’s relationship with the earth, and the future doesn’t seem promising. Nibera creates parallel worlds that inspire hope for a better future. Through landscape collages, she tries to remind society of what the world was like before humans began to destroy it. She uses analogue photography to give the collages a touch of the old, creating a sense that the photos were taken a long time ago. The author envisions what the world would be like if humans respected nature. The collages are a combination of analogue photographs taken by Nibera on photographic film. She creates a world that reflects ours, but in an alternate reality where humans do not interfere with nature. It is important to address climate change in a way that is not always negative. Creating positive visual messages can be inspiring and offer hope. As the German painter Gerhard Richter once said, “Art is the highest form of hope.” All photographs are taken by © Nibera with an analog camera on 35mm film.
At the heart of “Parallel Worlds II.” lies a profound concern for humanity’s relationship with the Earth, a relationship that appears increasingly fraught with peril. In response to this disquieting reality, Nibera seeks to inspire optimism and contemplation through the creation of parallel worlds—realms where hope flourishes and the promise of a better tomorrow beckons. Through the medium of landscape collages, she endeavors to evoke nostalgia for an era when humanity coexisted harmoniously with nature, before the ravages of industrialization and exploitation took their toll.
Utilizing analogue photography techniques, Nibera infuses her collages with a timeless quality, imparting a sense of antiquity and authenticity to the imagery. The deliberate use of analog photography lends the collages a captivating aura, evoking a bygone era and imbuing the viewer with a profound sense of connection to the past. Through this artistic choice, Nibera invites audiences to envision a world where humans respected and revered the natural world, fostering a deep sense of reverence and stewardship for the environment.
The collages comprising “Parallel Worlds II.” are a harmonious amalgamation of analogue photographs captured by Nibera on photographic film. Each image serves as a portal to an alternate reality—a reality where humanity’s relationship with nature is defined by symbiosis rather than exploitation. Through her artistry, Nibera crafts a world that mirrors our own, yet exists in a parallel dimension untouched by human interference, where the delicate balance of ecosystems remains undisturbed.
In addressing the urgent issue of climate change, “Parallel Worlds II.” offers a refreshing perspective that transcends the pervasive negativity often associated with environmental discourse. By creating positive visual messages imbued with optimism and hope, Nibera invites viewers to envision a future where humanity and nature coexist in harmonious equilibrium. As the renowned German painter Gerhard Richter once proclaimed, “Art is the highest form of hope,” and through “Parallel Worlds II.,” Nibera endeavors to inspire hope and ignite a collective desire for positive change.
All photographs in “Parallel Worlds II.” are captured by © Nibera using an analog camera on 35mm film, a deliberate choice that underscores the project’s commitment to authenticity and tradition.
