Parallel Worlds II

The “Parallel Worlds II.” photographic series is a continuation of the author’s exploration initiated with the “Parallel Worlds I.” project in 2017. This ongoing endeavour transcends temporal boundaries, evolving continuously as a timeless expression of hope and longing for a new, improved world. Through photographic works, the artist endeavours to manifest her aspirations for a future that diverges from the ominous trajectory of the present.
Through photographic works, the artist expresses her hope for a new, different, and better world. The artist is concerned about humanity’s relationship with the earth, and the future doesn’t seem promising. Nibera creates parallel worlds that inspire hope for a better future. Through depictions of landscapes, she tries to remind society of what the world was like before humans began to destroy it. She uses analogue photography to give the photographs a touch of the old, creating a sense that the photos were taken a long time ago. The author envisions what the world would be like if humans respected nature. The images are a combination of analogue photographs taken by Nibera on photographic film. She creates a world that reflects ours, but in an alternate reality where humans do not interfere with nature. It is important to address climate change in a way that is not always negative. Creating positive visual messages can be inspiring and offer hope. As the German painter Gerhard Richter once said, “Art is the highest form of hope.”
About the Artist
Bernarda C. Nibera – Master of Arts in Visual Communication Design
Nibera (1992) is a versatile and interdisciplinary visual artist whose practice spans fine art photography, graphic art, illustration, animation, and design. Based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, she exhibits internationally and works across diverse creative contexts. As a full-time, self-employed artist, Nibera devotes herself entirely to the pursuit of her artistic vision, continually pushing boundaries and exploring new possibilities within the realm of visual art.
